This tool is in active development. You are responsible for checking every figure and claim against its source before you rely on it or share it. Figures come from the ProtoGen handout Hydrogen in Lithium Ion Thermal Runaway, draft version 5, which is awaiting SME review, and from the papers it cites.

How charge changes the hydrogen
Room average hydrogen against state of charge

Hydrogen collects under the roof. The gauge shows the room average, the way the handout's formula does. Hydrogen is lighter than air, so the air near the ceiling reaches the limit sooner.
Low charge changes more than the hydrogen. Below roughly 30 to 50% charge, most cells do not run away on their own.[12] Handout §8c
The failing rack cannot be discharged. Its battery management system has already opened its contactors. Discharging helps the neighbors, and only as fast as the power conversion system allows. Handout §8e

Where the fix belongs

The numbers only matter if they reach the point where they can change something. That point is design, long before anyone opens a door. Tap a fix, then tap the rung where it belongs. Handout §9[6]
